Super Plucky-o Bros is a fictional video game in Tiny Toon Adventures. It is a parody of the hit Nintendo game Super Mario Bros., with Plucky in the role of Mario.
About the Game[]
Super Plucky-o Bros appears in a commercial in the Season 1 episode "K-Acme TV". The game parody features Plucky-o (a parody of Mario) and his brother, Linguine (a taller Plucky and parody of Mario's brother, Luigi), traveling through Fungo World (a parody of the Mushroom Kingdom), where they must rescue Princess Loon (a parody of Princess Toadstool/Peach) from the Toadstool Tower. To rescue her, players must pick the right magic kumquat from a tree. Linguine tries to do so, but is chased away from said tree by the Dizzy Doofus (a parody of Bowser/King Koopa), and Plucky-o evades various enemies larger than himself, until he finds the Giant Nyah-Nyah of Power (a parody of a combination of the Star and Fire Flower power-ups) that turns him into an invincible giant who defeats the enemies and rescues Princess Loon. The game ends (with a Game Over), revealing Plucky playing the game in an arcade. He says, "It's more than a game, it's an obsession!," as a pair of chattering teeth from the game chases him across the arcade. The announcer then states, "It's Super Plucky-o Bros for your Numbmindo system. Whine, scream and cry until your folks break down and buy you one! Only $879.99. Batteries, instructions, joystick and game not included."
Trivia[]
- Actual sound effects from Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 are used. Usually when video games are depicted in cartoons, the sound effects are from the original arcade or the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man.
- Giant Nyah-Nyah of Power resembles the Mega Mushroom power-up in the Mario series. This cannot be a reference however as the Mega Mushroom debuted in New Super Mario Bros., over a decade after this fictional video game is featured in an episode.
